Nate Narrates: My Two Favorite Places on Guam
From a freshwater cave to a busy ocean reef, Nate shares why he already can’t wait to go back to Guam.

Guam!
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” Psalm 46:1-3
My two favorite places in Guam were Pagat Caves and Gab Gab Reef.
Pagat Caves
Pagat Caves has a muddy and steep hike down. Luckily, there were tons of ropes.
When you get to the bottom, there are these caves.
About to enter Pagat Cave.
One is filled with water. The main cave, the estimated guess of the main cave is the deepest part of the cave is eight feet deep. (I don’t know, I couldn’t tell. I didn’t have goggles on. It might have been deeper).
Pagat Caves is actually filled only with rainwater, which is crazy.
Editor’s note: A short hike away from Pagat Caves takes you to this beautiful arch near the ocean cliffs.
Five stars. Definitely coming back.
Gab Gab
Now I will write about Gab Gab.
Editor’s note: Gab Gab is the main beach on Naval Base Guam.
There is no fishing allowed at Gab Gab Beach, which I guess makes sense because there is a ton of reefs and fish. It is really big.
There is also this pool that connects to the reef.
Gab Gab is also an ideal area on the island to spot sea turtles.
100,000 stars. Hope to come back.
Roberts on the Road
For those just finding us, hello! Inspired by the Year of Jubilee in Leviticus 25, our family is on a yearlong RV road trip in 2025-2026 to celebrate my husband’s retirement after 20 years in Naval Special Warfare, as well as our 24 years together during the ups and downs of it all.
With our 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son in tow, this trip to explore America’s national parks and beautiful places is intended to help our family reflect and reset as civilian life begins.
Sign up below to receive updates about the trip, along with stories, photos, and reflections from 24 years of military service. We look forward to keeping in touch on this epic adventure.
