After four years dreaming about Yellowstone, we returned to rediscover its unrivaled spectrum of colors.

This is still Yellowstone.

A landscape that’s always changing, yet feels comfortingly familiar four years later.

A special place for a special moment in our story

Spending eight full days in Yellowstone allowed the time and space to escape the crowds and make this place our own.

While here, both kids hit their stride for longer hikes. Nate hiked his first-ever mountain summit (Mount Washburn, 7 miles, 10,219 ft. elevation). Both kids did a 12-mile round-trip hike down into the Yellowstone River. Sadie did the hike twice.

On August 27, Nick and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on a drizzly day touring the northeast side. We spotted a pack of wolves and a grizzly bear in Lamar Valley then feasted on dinner and ice cream sundaes in the historic Roosevelt Dining Room.

Our wedding day—on a late summer day in Houston, Texas moments—was 99 degrees. Hard to imagine we’d ever spend our anniversary warming up by a fireplace.

After eight days inside the park, stones were left unturned. There were more places to explore in this outdoor playground that we simply didn’t have time for.

Because this is Yellowstone. And the wonders on this unique plateau high in the mountain wilderness seemingly know no end.

What an incredible mirror reflecting the Creator of it all.

Without a doubt, we’ll be back.

For those just finding us, hello! Inspired by the Year of Jubilee in Leviticus 25, our family is on a yearlong RV road trip in 2025-2026 to celebrate my husband’s retirement after 20 years in Naval Special Warfare, as well as our 24 years together during the ups and downs of it all.

With our 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son in tow, this trip to explore America’s national parks and beautiful places is intended to help our family reflect and reset as civilian life begins.
